About us

Works Coffee Roasters

Welcome to the Works Coffee Roasters site.

We are a husband and wife team Jim and Claire, currently based at 160 Cavehill road, north Belfast, and we simply love all things coffee!

Our name Works Coffee Roasters comes from our local Waterworks park. This is where our story first began in 2014 in our tiny mobile van, that sat just at the entrance of the park at the bottom of the Cavehill road. In 2022, we then moved to our current premises..

Our coffee shop and small roastery is intimate with a relaxed and local vibe, where you will hear us referred to as “The Works”!
We began importing and roasting coffee in 2019, with the aim of offering beans from each of the coffee producing continents.
We offer a good range of high quality, arabica beans, with the entirety of these grown at high elevations.  Our retail coffee bags are available in the shop and online, with a varied choice of single origin coffees alongside our signature Park Blend.  You will also find a range of coffee brewing devices and accessories on the shelves.

Our Cavehill shop is, let’s say, cosy, with a few indoor seats, but we are blessed with the addition of an outdoor space, that sits facing the beautiful and famous Cavehill.
To accompany the coffee, we serve up a great range of locally baked, artisan sweet goods, delicious sourdough grilled cheese toasties, sandwiches and granola.

The shop opens Tuesday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm and 9am - 3pm Saturday and Sundays.

We currently deliver our coffee UK wide. We are hoping to expand this to all Ireland soon also.

We hope you enjoy
Jim and Claire

Our Coffee

Works Coffee Roasters believe in buying the best quality green coffee beans and to pay a fair price in return.
We work with two importers, namely, Viva Coffee Ltd, here in Ireland and also Mercanta, based in London.
The benefit to working with these experienced importers means that we can give careful consideration to the quality, traceability and sustainability of the beans, before choosing which coffee farms to purchase from.
When purchasing our green beans, we particularly like to opt for farms who deploy good agro-ecological methods. We also love to work with farmers who invest in their local communities health, education and where the workers get paid a decent price for their efforts.

We feel privileged to offer some of the highest quality beans from all over the worlds coffee producing regions. We believe that we and other coffee shops, only have our great flat whites, lattes etc, because of the exceptional green beans, that are so carefully and often painstakingly cultivated. For this reason, we want to make our coffee accessible, affordable and hopefully eradicate some of the snobbery that can be associated with coffee.

It is thanks to such excellent coffee farms, that we can offer a beautiful range of speciality single origin coffees, along with well-balanced blends. Our coffees are made to order and roasted in small batches.
